Ah, Valentine’s Day. Not something I’m personally in to, but DeeW was quite excited. She made a card for me, then asked me to write “Dear Mummy, Happy Valentine’s Day, love from DeeW”. I finished writing, she folded it up and proudly exclaimed “look! I made you a card!”
I had planned on baking something in a heart shaped tin, or making something in my heart shaped moulds but in the end Husband and I thought we would have a special food day. In other words, Mum Hasn’t Been Organised Enough To Prepare Stuff. First stop in the morning was Mister Nice Guy’s Bake Shop. I tried the mini raw strawberry shortcake and it was fantastically good. This is the first time I’ve tried one of the raw offerings from the bake shop and it did not disappoint:
More goodies on display:
For dinner, we headed off to Eat Fresh Pizza at 44 Raleigh Road in Maribyrnong. I got myself a vegan gourmet veggie pizza, with capsicum, roast pumpkin and eggplant. Major yum here too:
My Valentine’s present to myself, Husband and the kids magically appeared earlier in the week. I had some things to drop off at an op shop and to my delight there was a big “50% off everything” sign on the window. I scored this 1970s Mastermind set, just like the one I had growing up. Not only that, but this I am sure is unused as the scoring pegs were still in a sealed bag and the coloured pegs were in a bag (non-sealed). For $2.50!!!

Note the hands. BWAHAHA!
I love my readers! MWAAAA!
I too had plans for heart shaped baking but when it came to it I was trying to eat healthy food and we already had nice chokky bikkies so I didn’t. But then again Valentines Day is just fun rather than something I really need to do. We celebrate lots of things and this is not top of the list. The master mind pack looks great – takes me back when I see it. And your pizza looks lovely – I made some tonight but was too lazy about toppings because the heat is wearing me out.
the heat is really doing me in too, I just can’t be bothered. Then I’ll forget to take tofu or something out of the freezer so dinner for the next day is stuffed. It seems like too much effort!
How delicious – love that cupcake!
It’s always great at this place 🙂
I used to play that exact version of Mastermind with my Dad growing up. SMILES!
I’ve been looking for the same set for years but all the second hand ones were damaged or had bits missing. You can’t play without the original little barrier thingy!!!
That bakery always looks amazing. The pizza looks yum too. I still have our original Master Mind from my childhood. I actually mentioned it to my husband recently but he wasn’t interested in playing. 😦
Mastermind is great, I’m really hoping my kids get in to it!
I had that version of Mastermind! And we have a newer one (the original one disappeared somewhere along the way). I love it, but my family are hardly ever interested in board games – dammit! (My husband just pretended to like them until we were married!) Where was that pizza from? It looks fantastic. And I’m off to Mr Nice Guy tomorrow to get a couple of tiny cupcakes for a visit to my great nieces (and something for me too). 😛
the pizza is from Eat Fresh Pizza on Raleigh Rd in Maribyrnong, not too far from Highpoint. I should edit my post! My husband hates board games too 😦
